Jewellery Care
Care of your jewellery.
To reduce the amount of cleaning required and the risk of damage, it is recommended that the jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This helps to prevent contact with make up and hairsprays etc, that can increase tarnishing or cause discolouration.
Freshwater Pearls and Gemstones
All the gemstones and freshwater pearls used in our jewellery are high quality but they can lose their lusture over time and require cleaning. Pearls and gemstones should be wiped with a soft damp cloth to restore their shine. Never use soap or any cleaning fluids as these can cause discolouration. After cleaning dry thoroughly as some gemstones are porous and will be damaged by prolonged contact with water.
Sterling Silver
All the silver used in our jewellery is sterling silver. This means it is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. The copper content is required to harden the metal as 100% silver would be quite soft. Unfortunately, copper reacts with the air which causes the sterling silver to tarnish over time.
The silver parts of the jewellery should be cleaned using a soft cloth or soft toothbrush and warm soapy water. Only use mild soap and never use any chemical cleaners or abrasive cloths as these can cause permanent damage. Do not immerse the jewellery in water as some gemstones are porous. After cleaning dry thoroughly.
